First 3D Printed Home

According to an article in Realtor Magazine, the first 3D printed home is now on sale. The home is located in Long Island, built by a robot and is listed for $299,999.

Stephen King of Realty Connect says the home is priced 50% below the cost of comparable new homes. This could mean a few things. One is that the affordable home issue can be resolved a little easier across the country. The other is that homes can likely be built faster which could help the low inventory issue in the country. However, this could also lead to major job losses across the country since construction contributes to 5% of the jobs in the United States.

Would you buy a home that was built by a robot? Would you have any doubts about safety and design aesthetics, or do you think this would eliminate human error and perfect design aspects?

Do you think job losses due to automation are an ethical concern? Do you think job losses could negatively or positively impact the real estate industry? Do you think homes becoming more affordable to buyers will offset the negative of potential job losses?

Do you think selling a 3D printed property would be harder or easier? Are you an investor excited about more affordable properties or do you think this will be a hurdle in your plans?
